Every now and then I find a piece of wood that belongs in a burn pile, but I see somethng redeemable in it. I use a little hard work and sometimes some resin to hold it together and turn it into a one-of-a-kind beauty. I have taken wood from the 2018 Camp Fire and turned memories and recovery into pieces. I have taken chunks of 100 year old lake docks and turned history into bowls, salt & pepper shakers and more.
In the photo below, the bowls were turned out of a 85+++ year old dock from Kit Carson Lodge. They were given to the ladies as a memory keepsakes. Their families have been going to Kit Carson Lodge from 1936 on. They are part of a continuous group that enjoys Silver Lake and each others families every summer. Turning those bowls were special for them and for me, as my family has also gone to the laske since 1936.
